Gilly's Performance Highlights Last-Chance Efforts

ADA, Ohio-- Trine's Sam Gilly tied his own school record in the weight throw Saturday in Ohio Northern University's Polar Bear Final Qualifier.

Gilly (St. Joseph, Ill./St. Joseph-Ogden) matched his record-setting throw from last weekend's MIAA Indoor Track and Field Championship with a toss of 58 feet, 8.75 inches. The senior's throw placed him second among performers in the Polar Bear Final Qualifiers. Gilly was looking to lock up a trip to the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field National Championships next weekend.

At the time of writing, Gilly's performance was ranked 12th in the nation. The top 20 performers receive invites to the national meet.

James Gregory (Akron, Ind./Tippecanoe Valley) ran a time of 8.86 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles. The senior's performance placed him fifth in the event.
