ANGOLA, Ind.-- The Trine men's track and field team had four performers compete in last-chance meets this weekend.
Nicholas Zak (Saint John, Ind. / Hanover Central) and Jacob Leopold (Ottawa, Ohio / Ottawa-Gled in andorf) each competed in the 800-meter run at North Central College's Dr. Keeler Track and Field Meet. Zak ran a personal-best time of 1:53.84 to place 11th overall. Leopold finished in 1:55.01 to place 22nd. Both performances are short of qualifying times for the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field National Championships.
Sam Gilly (St. Joseph, Ill/ St. Joseph-Ogden) threw a distance of 168 feet, 6 inches to place ninth in the hammer throw at Grand Valley State University's Last Chance Meet. Jessie Dowell (Remington, Ind. / Tri Junior-Senior) threw a distance of 153 feet, 10 inches to place third in the javelin throw. Each performance are short of qualifying distances for the national meet.
One week of last-chance meet opportunities remain for Thunder competitors to attempt to qualify for the national meet.
