Throwers Open Performance in Oiler Open

FINDLAY, Ohio -- Four members of Trine's men's track and field team competed in the weight throw to open the team's performance in the University of Findlay Oiler Open Friday night. 

Andrew Bunting (Brunswick, Ohio / Brunswick) led all Thunder performers in the event with a seventh-place finish. The senior unleashed a throw of 54 feet, 3.75 inches. He finished second among performers from NCAA Division III schools competing in the event. 

Sophomore Mitch Martin (Monroe, Mich. / Monroe) joined Bunting in the top 10 with a 10th-place finish in a field made up of 30 entrants. Martin notched a personal-best throw of 52 feet, 4 inches to earn his placing. The throw bested his previous personal-record by just over a foot.

Chris Carver (Angola, Ind. / Sand Creek) added a personal-best throw of 48 feet, 6.25 inches. David Schaaf (Kokomo, Ind. / Northwestern) also competed for the Thunder.

The Oiler Open concludes with the majority of events taking place tomorrow. Events are scheduled to begin at 11:30 a.m.
