Bunting Wins Weight Throw at Hillsdale Tune-Up

HILLSDALE, Mich. -- Andrew Bunting won the weight throw at Hillsdale College's Tune-Up Meet to highlight the efforts of Trine men's track and field individuals competing in the event.

Bunting (Brunswick, Ohio / Brunswick) placed first in the event with a throw of 16.16 meters (53 feet, 0.25 inches). Bunting leads the MIAA in the weight throw and is the only MIAA field athlete to notch a distance greater than 16 meters in the event. Mitch Martin (Monroe, Mich. / Monroe) added a second-place finish in the event with a throw of 15.93 meters (52 feet, 3.25 inches). Martin ranks second in the MIAA in the event.

Nick Gerber (Goshen, Ind. / Goshen) rounded out Trine individuals competing in field events. Gerber placed fifth in the weight throw and sixth in the shot put.

Nick Zak (Saint John, Ind. / Hanover Central) led a trio of Thunder runners competing in the 800-meter run. The sophomore placed fifth with a time of 1:58.63. Adrian Howard (Marion, Ind. / Marion) and Paul Baker (Columbus, Ind. / Columbus East) also competed in the event.

Trine will look to defend its MIAA title in the MIAA Indoor Track and Field Championship Saturday, Feb. 25 at Calvin. Events are scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m.
