Richardville Named MIAA Indoor Track Most Valuable Runner

ANGOLA, IND.  --  Senior Trine University track member Patrick Richardville (Leo, Ind./Leo) has been named the 2018 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association "Most Valuable Runner" for his individual efforts at the conference championship.

This is Richardville's second conference "Most Valuable Runner" award.  He was tabbed "Most Valuable Runner" last year during the outdoor track season.

Richardville helped lead the Thunder to a runner-up team finish at this year's MIAA Indoor Championship that was held at Trine on Feb. 24.  Individually, Richardville won a pair of events in the 60-meter and 200-meter dash, setting a school and conference record in the process.

Richardville set a school and conference record in the 60-meter dash beginning with the prelims in which he broke his own school all-time mark by one one-hundreths of a second.  Richardville ran a time of 6.96 seconds in the prelims to better his previous record of 6.97 seconds which he ran during the 2015-16 season.  In the finals, Richardville then improved his preliminary time by five one-hundreths of a second, 6.91 seconds, to re-break the school record and set the MIAA all-time mark while claiming the individual conference title.  His time in the event was also the 11th fastest mark in NCAA Division III so far this season.

Richardville also went on to capture the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.44 seconds for his second conference individual title.  His time was 10 one-hundreths of a second behind the MIAA record.

In addition, Richardville was tabbed All-MIAA in both the 60-meter and 200-meter dash as an event winner.

The top-16 times in the nation in each event will make up the field for the 2018 NCAA Division III Indoor Meet with the official field of competitors for nationals being released on Monday, Mar. 5.  Richardville currently ranks 11th in the 60-meter dash.
