Members of Men's Track & Field Team Compete in Hillsdale Invitational

HILLSDALE, MICH.  --  Members of the Trine University men's field team traveled north of the border to compete in the Hillsdale Invitational hosted by Hillsdale College.

Sophomore Skyler Dunckley (Cedar, Mich./Traverse City West) posted the top individual finish for Trine in the shot put with a third place finish after a distance of 42' 7.50" (12.99 meters).  

Freshman Nicolas Kane (St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles East) also competed in the shot put and finished sixth overall following a distance of 40' 9.75" (12.44 meters).  Kane also competed in the hammer and placed fifth in a distance of 130' 2.00" (42.12 meters) as well as the discus finishing in a tie for eighth with a mark of 112' 0.00" (34.13 meters).

Freshman Chance Wilson (Elkhart, Ind./Concord) posted his best finish of second place in the javelin with a toss of 151' 1.00" (46.06 meters).  Wilson also recorded a seventh-place showing in the shot put with a mark of 40' 9.50" (12.43 meters).

Ben Alston (Adrian, Mich./Sand Creek) was the second Trine competitor to finish in the top-five in the javelin with a fourth-place effort following a throw of 117' 10.00" (35.93 meters).  He went to compete in the javelin and placed seventh with a distance of 96' 5.00" (29.39 meters).

Matt Klenke (Alexandria, Ind./Alexandria) competed in a pair of events with a best finish of seventh in both the discus and the javelin.  In the discus, Klenke posted a distance of 115' 1.00" (35.07 meters) and 96' 5.00" (29.39 meters) in the javelin.

Junior Nicholas Gerber (Goshen, Ind./Goshen) placed a team-leading second in the hammer throw with a best mark of 167' 4.00" (51.01 meters).

Sophomore Paul Arend (Hicksville, Ohio/Fairview) and senior David Schaaf (Kokomo, Ind./Northwestern) both recorded marks in the hammer with Arend placing eighth after a toss of 113' 11.00" (34.73 meters) and Schaaf placing ninth with a distance of 108' 5.00" (33.04 meters).

Trine is next scheduled to compete in the Indiana Division III Championship hosted by DePauw University on Saturday, Apr. 14.  The meet is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. in Greencastle, Ind.
