Richardville Competes at NCAA Outdoor Track Championships

LA CROSSE, WISC.  --  Senior Trine University track and field sprinter Patrick Richardville (Leo, Ind./Leo) competed in the 100-meter dash of the 2018 NCAA Division III Championships hosted by the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse in La Crosse, Wisc.

Richardville was the lone Thunder student-athlete to qualify for this year's outdoor national meet on the men's side.  Still hampered by a hamstring injury that he suffered at the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Outdoor Championships and following a three hour weather delay, Richardville was still able to run a time of 11.23 seconds. Unfortunately, the mark wasn't quite fast enough to qualify for tomorrow's (Saturday, May 26) finals.

Richardville entered today's action with a season-best mark of 10.61 seconds to rank as the 14th fastest in NCAA D-III this past season to get into this year's national meet field.  He recorded the mark at the Hillsdale "GINA" Relays on Apr. 27.

Richardville ends his track career at Trine with a total of four school records that include the 60-meter dash, 100-meter dash, 200-meter dash, and as a member of the 4x100 relay.  In addition, he has combined to win eight MIAA individual titles during his indoor and outdoor career, was a two-time MIAA "Most Outstanding Performer," and a six-time U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Region Award winner.

"It's been an honor to coach Patrick," said Head Coach Rod Waters.  "He has been instrumental in the success of our men's program for the past four years.  Without his hard work, dedication, and preparation, our team success wouldn't be possible without his individual achievements."
