ANGOLA, IND. -- Trine University senior Jeffery Barnett (Fremont, Ohio/Ross) has been named this week's Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association men's indoor "Field Athlete of the Week."
The Thunder competed at the Hillsdale (Mich.) College Wide-Track Classic this past weekend where they placed seventh of 20 teams.
Individually, Barnett was the individual champion in the long jump event with a leap of 22' 7.00". Barnett was one of 29 competitors and claimed the top spot by three-quarters of an inch. His effort would rank in the top-25 nationally and first in the MIAA if not for Barnett's 23' 9.50" effort earlier this season.
Trine will next compete at the Pat Heenan Invitational hosted by North Central (Ill.) College on Friday, Feb. 8 in Naperville, Ill. The first events are scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m. CST.
