Barnett Breaks Trine Long Jump Record at NCAA Outdoor Nationals

GENEVEA, OHIO  --  Senior Trine University men's outdoor track & field team member Jeffery Barnett (Fremont, Ohio/Ross) broke his own school outdoor record in the long jump and placed fourth overall in the event at the 2019 NCAA Division III Outdoor Championship at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio.

Barnett recorded a best leap of 24' 6.25" to place fourth among a field of 20 total competitors and earned All-American honors.  His All-American award was his first in his career during the outdoor season and his fourth overall.  He was a three-time All-American, and two-time national runner-up, in the indoor long jump.

His record-setting jump was his last successful attempt of the afternoon.

Barnett's mark improved upon his earlier distance that set a school record earlier this season by six inches.  His previous record of 24' 0.25" came at the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Outdoor Championship in early May.
