Beakas Named Academic All-American by CoSIDA

AUSTIN, Texas – Trine University men's cross country and track & field student-athlete Jack Beakas [Auburn, Ind. / DeKalb] has been named a 2020-21 Academic All-American by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Beakas is a member of the Third Team Academic All-American. The last Trine men's cross country and track & field athlete to become an Academic All-American was his former teammate Nick Zak in 2018-19. Beakas had a 4.0 grade point average in graduate school for Civil Engineering and graduated in the spring of 2021.

Earlier this month, Beakas was named Academic All-District, giving him the opportunity to become an Academic All-American. One season ago, Beakas was named to the NCAA Division III All-Academic team, nominated by the USTFCCCA [United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association].

Beakas placed ninth (30:56.32) in the 10,000-meter event at the NCAA Division III National Championships in Greensboro, North Carolina this past spring, and was tabbed First Team All-MIAA for the indoor track season. He was a member of the MIAA Championship-winning distance medley relay team during the indoor season. Beakas won the Midwest Intercollegiate with a 5K time of 15:29.90 in cross country and also won the Robert L. Greim Award for Top Male Student-Athlete at Trine in 2020-21.
