Jake Gladieux Takes Down 60-Meter Hurdle Record Once Again Saturday

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Trine University men's track and field team competed on Saturday at the University of Indianapolis in their team invitational.

Jake Gladieux [Oregon, Ohio / Whitmer] was a standout performer in multiple events, including the 60-meter hurdles and 200-meter dash. Gladieux broke his own record in the 60-meter hurdles at 8.14 seconds and secured a time of 22.48 seconds in the 200, bringing home event wins for the Thunder in both.

Runner-up honors were awarded to Josh Davis [Sterling Heights, Mich. / Sterling Heights] in the 60-meter dash with a time of 6.98 seconds, just missing the school record time. In other track events, Noah Ballard [Tipp City, Ohio / Tippecanoe] tied for fifth in the 200-meter dash (2:02.33) while Ryan Smith [Peru, Ind. / Peru] was eighth in the 400-meter run (52.98 seconds) and Ashton Still [Sellersburg, Ind. / Silver Creek] eighth as well in the mile run (4:32.64).

Highlighting field events, Ben Williams [Farmington Hills, Mich. / Harrison] placed second in the long jump at 6.68 meters (21' 11.0") and Noah McClellan [Schererville, Ind. / Lake Central] came home third in the triple jump at 12.43 meters (40' 9.5").

Theodore Samra [Lansing, Mich. / DeWitt] was fifth in the weight throw with a toss of 16.00 meters (52' 6.0") and Greysen Spohn [Peru, Ind. / Peru] fifth as well to lead Trine in the high jump at 1.89 meters (6' 2.25"). The freshman pair of Nathan Leap [Tipton, Ind. / Tipton] and Blake Lude [Auburn, Ind. / Dekalb] tied for sixth in the pole vault with a score of 3.43 meters (11' 3.0").

Next weekend serves as the final warm-up before conference championships as Trine sends athletes to Hillsdale College and the University of Notre Dame on Saturday, February 19.
