Men's Track and Field in Action Saturday

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. & UPLAND, Ind. – The Trine University men's track and field team had student-athletes at two different meets on Saturday as well – they continued action at Western Kentucky University and competed at the George Glass Invitational at Taylor University.

In Bowling Green, Jake Gladieux [Oregon, Ohio / Whitmer] had victories in the 110-meter hurdles (14.45 seconds) and 400-meter hurdles (53.15 seconds). The Thunder also had a race-winning 4x100-meter relay team at 41.99 seconds, less than one second off the school record. The group consisted of Josh Davis [Sterling Heights, Mich. / Sterling Heights], William Thonn [Rochester, Ind. / Rochester], Ben Williams [Farmington Hills, Mich. / Harrison] and Greysen Spohn [Peru, Ind. / Peru].

Trine also saw top performances by Davis in the 100-meter dash (11.14 seconds), Spohn in the 200-meter dash (23.00 seconds) and an eighth-place javelin throw by Noah McClellan [Schererville, Ind. / Lake Central] that traveled 48.48 meters (159' 1.0").

A variety of field athletes were in action at Taylor. Theodore Samra [Lansing, Mich. / DeWitt] and Eirik Eggen [Brownsburg, Ind. / Brownsburg] were the high-scoring Thunder athletes in two events each. Samra was fourth in the hammer throw (50.71 meters / 166' 4.00") and fifth in the shot put (13.81 meters / 45' 3.75") while Eggen brought home a fifth-place finish in the javelin (39.34 meters / 129' 1.00") and triple jump (11.91 meters / 39' 1.00").

Trine also saw Garret Kelley [Fremont, Ind. / Fremont] notch a fourth-place finish in the high jump (1.80 meters / 5' 10.75"), Travis Dowling [Swayzee, Ind. / Oak Hill] secure a fifth-place throw in the discus (39.89 meters / 130' 10.00") and Gage Eicher [Edon, Ohio / Edon] a seventh-place mark in the long jump (6.07 meters / 19' 11.00").

In running events, Aaron Pike [New Richmond, Ohio / New Richmond] was the top placeman for the Thunder in the 100-meter dash (11.16 seconds) and 200-meter dash (23.17 seconds) and Holden Martin [Indianapolis, Ind. / Scecina Memorial] in the 800-meter run (1:59.98) and 1500-meter run (4:07.81). In the 3000-meter steeplechase event, Austin Smith [Jackson, Mich. / Napoleon] placed second with a time of 10:21.89.

Next up on the schedule is the Huntsman Family Invitational at Wabash College in Crawfordsville, Indiana on Saturday, April 9.
