Trine Track and Field Announces Volunteer Assistant Coach Adam Smith

ANGOLA, Ind. – Adam Smith has joined the Trine University men's and women's track and field program as a volunteer assistant coach. Smith will assist the coaching staff in the javelin.

Smith is originally from Ansonia, Ohio and attended the University of Cincinnati. He graduated with a degree in finance and was a member of the Track & Field team. After initially walking on, Cincinnati made Smith a scholarship athlete after his success and set two school records in the pentathlon and shuttle hurdle relay. Some of his top achievements include a 14.72-second 110-meter hurdle time, a 10.92 in the 100-meter dash, a score of 198' 6.00" in the javelin, and a 7.55-second 55-meter hurdle time.

In 2022, he began running competitively again, by participating in USATF Masters track meets. In his first year back, he became the National Champion in the 110-meter hurdles (16.71 seconds) and Pentathlon (2,814 pts) in the M45 age group. Additionally, he placed second in the javelin, third in the high jump, and fourth in the long jump at the National Championships in Lexington, Kentucky.

He and his wife Candace have two sons, Jackson and Greyson, and they reside locally in Angola. Professionally, he is a Certified Financial Planner and is currently the Director of Financial Planning at Trilogy Wealth Advisors in Angola, Indiana. Smith has been recognized as one of the top Financial Planners in the area.
