HUDSONVILLE, Mich. – After his performances at the Hillsdale Tune-Up, Kimball Hughes of the Trine University men's track and field team has been selected as the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Athlete of the Week.
Hughes, a junior thrower from Reading, Michigan, took part in the shot put and weight throw events. He secured a new personal best toss of 15.04 meters (49' 4.25") to place second overall behind teammate Theodore Samra. Hughes in now second in the league in the shot put.
He also had a sixth-place finish in the weight throw at 14.02 meters (46' 0.00"). Last week, Hughes set a new personal best in the weight throw at 14.70 meters (2.75"). He is ninth in the MIAA in that event heading into the MIAA Indoor Championships.
On Saturday, February 25, the Thunder host the MIAA Indoor Championships at home inside the Keith E. Busse/Steel Dynamics Athletic and Recreation Center (ARC). Events begin at 11 a.m.
