Ben Williams Notches First Career MIAA Athlete of the Week Award

HUDSONVILLE, Mich. – Ben Williams of the Trine University men's track and field team was named Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Field Athlete of the Week. It is the first time in Williams' career being named MIAA Athlete of the Week.

The senior student-athlete from Farmington Hills, Michigan had the top score for the Thunder in three separate events last Friday at the Spartan Invite at Michigan State University. Competing against NCAA Division I, Division II and NAIA institutions, Williams put together top marks in the long jump, 100-meter dash and 200-meter dash.

He placed eighth in the long jump at 6.44 meters (21' 1.5") on the field side. His best mark of the season is also the top score in the MIAA in the event during the outdoor campaign. Williams also had team-best times of 11.27 seconds in the 100-meter dash and 22.66 seconds in the 200-meter dash. He finished 12th overall in the 100-meter event and 7th in the 200-meter event.

The track and field program will be close to home on Friday, April 7 when they travel to Indiana Tech in Fort Wayne, Indiana for the Warrior Open.
