Jake Gladieux Wins MIAA Track Athlete of the Week Award

HUDSONVILLE, Mich. – The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) has named Jake Gladieux of the Trine University track and field team the MIAA Track Athlete of the Week following his performances in the hurdle events at the conference championship meet.

Gladieux, a senior from Oregon, Ohio, brought home two event wins at the MIAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. He became a three-time MIAA champion in both the 110-meter hurdles and 400-meter hurdles to lead the team to their third consecutive MIAA team title.

In Thursday's preliminary races, he ran a 14.96-second 110-meter hurdle time (first) and a 56.86-second 400-meter hurdle time (second) to qualify for the event finals in both. He was able to secure maximum points for the team by retaining his MIAA crowns and improved upon each of his times. Gladieux ran 14.84 seconds in the 110-meter hurdle race and 53.53 seconds in the 400-meter hurdles.

His time in the 400-meter hurdles took three seconds off his preliminary time and is tied for 24th in the nation. His best times of the season put him in 8th in the 110-meter hurdles (14.31 seconds) and 14th in the 400-meter hurdles (53.05 seconds).

The NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships will take place on May 25-27. Stay tuned for www.trinethunder.com for more information regarding potential qualifications for that event.
