All-MIAA Recipients Announced for Track and Field

HUDSONVILLE, Mich. – The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) has announced the individual recipients of All-MIAA honors following the MIAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Four Trine University track and field student-athletes won MIAA championships last week to garner All-MIAA awards.

Jake Gladieux, a senior sprinter and hurdler from Oregon, Ohio, won both the 110-meter hurdle race and the 400-meter hurdle race. He ran a time of 14.84 seconds in the 110-meter hurdle event and 53.53 seconds in the 400-meter hurdle to earn All-MIAA for the third time in his career. Gladieux is currently in the top-15 in both events nationally.

Senior thrower Theodore Samra nabbed an event win in the shot put to secure his first career All-MIAA award during the outdoor season. The Lansing, Michigan native had a best toss of 15.62 meters (51' 3.00") in the shot put and just missed a personal best score in the event to help lead the men's team to victory for the third straight season.

On the women's side, senior middle distance runner Brianna Medcalf was victorious in the 800-meter race to win her first career All-MIAA award. Medcalf, the Central, Indiana native, entered the event as the third seed after a 2:19.10 time in Thursday's prelims and came out on top with a time of 2:15.99 in the event finals.

Senior thrower from Kendallville, Indiana, Madelyn Summers took home the crown in the hammer throw on Thursday. Summers' best throw was 45.21 meters (148' 4.00") to win her first All-MIAA honor during the outdoor season in her career.
