Men's Track and Field Receives Two MIAA Athlete of the Week Awards

HUDSONVILLE, Mich. – Senior Jake Gladieux of the Trine University men's track and field team has been selected as the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Men's Track Athlete of the Week as well as freshman Zion Jackson as MIAA Men's Field Athlete of the Week. It is Gladieux's sixth career MIAA Athlete of the Week award for the indoor season and eleventh overall award while it is the first for Jackson.

Gladieux broke his own school record in the 60-meter hurdle event at Indiana Tech with a time of 7.99 seconds. It is the first sub-eight second time in school history en route to a victory by .03 seconds. Gladieux also kicked off the 4x400-meter relay team that finished third with a time of 3:29.27.

Jackson set career marks in the long jump as well as the 60-meter hurdles at Indiana Tech last weekend. He completed the long jump with a best score of 7.00 meters (22' 11.75") and placed fifth in the event. He was also fifth in the 60-meter hurdle finals with a mark of 8.42 seconds. Nationally, Gladieux has the best time in NCAA DIII in the 60-meter hurdles and Jackson ranks fifteenth in the long jump.

The Thunder are at home for their next event on Saturday, January 13 for the Sean Brady Alumni Invitational. The action begins at 12 p.m. inside the Keith E. Busse/Steel Dynamics Athletic and Recreation Center (ARC).
