Men's Track and Field Opens Outdoor Campaign

MARIAN, Ind. – For the first time in the 2024 outdoor season, the Trine University men's track and field team was in action in the Polar Bear Classic at Indiana Wesleyan University on Friday, March 22 and Saturday, March 23.

Colten Zableckis would lead the way for Trine in three separate events: the shot put, discus and javelin. In the shot put, he was sixth at 14.37 meters (47' 1.75"). He also secured a top-ten mark in the discus in tenth at 38.82 meters (127' 4.00") while he was eleventh in the javelin at 40.71 meters (133' 7.00"). It is new personal best scores in the discus and javelin for Zableckis.

A pair of Thunder student-athletes brought home second-place marks. Tyler Hartleroad ran a 1:58.22 in the 800-meter run and Dillon Dennison was runner-up in the hammer throw at 49.11 meters (161' 1.00"). It was a new personal best for Dennison in the event.

Eli Shoup had the final top-ten mark for Trine in the 3000-meter steeplechase. His time of 10:12.85 is good for sixth overall. Other top finishers for the team included Nathan Leap in the pole vault at 4.10 meters (13'5.25") (12th), Max Van Huis in the 1500-meter run at 4:10.55 (17th), and Nicolas Squillacioti in the 5000-meter run at 15:49.73 (37th).

The season continues on Thursday, March 28 in the Marian University Open.
