Two School Records Broken on Friday for Men's and Women's Track and Field

MARION, Ind. – The Trine University men's and women's track and field programs were in action on Friday at the Indiana Little State Championships at Indiana Wesleyan University. Only a handful events were contested, but two school records fell for the Thunder.

Both the men's and women's 4x800-meter relay teams broke the school record in the event, one that the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) does not contest. The women's team of Bailey Puckett, Brianna Medcalf, Halle Overmire and Marissa Kenney placed fourth at 9:28.26 and the men's side ran a 7:53.54 (Tyler Hartleroad, Philip Nemechek, Samuel Sering and Jack Melvin) to score a fifth-place finish.

An event win was credited to Ethan Spahr in the javelin with a best throw of 51.00 meters (167' 4.00"). Also scoring points for the team were Isabel Ferguson in the triple jump at 10.69 meters (35' 0.75"), good for fourth, and Alexander Lewis in the shot put in sixth at 15.53 meters (50' 11.5").

Non-scoring top finishes on the day included Abby Sanner in the shot put (11.66 meters / 38' 3.00"), Hunter Eifert in the triple jump (11.54 meters / 37' 10.25") and Malena Ricks in the javelin (26.14 meters / 85' 9.00").

The Little State Championships conclude on Saturday, April 20.
