Trine Men's and Women's Volleyball Programs Receive USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Trine University men's and women's volleyball programs were each honored by the United States Marine Corps (USMC) and the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) as USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award recipients for the 2022-23 school year.

In total, 1,332 collegiate and high school volleyball teams qualified to win the team academic award by clinching a year-long grade point average of 3.3 or higher on a 4.0 scale or 4.1 or higher on a 5.0 scale.

For the Trine men's team, this season marks the first in program history where they have achieved the academic team accolade. They are one of 26 NCAA DIII institutions to meet the academic criteria for the 2022-23 school year.

2022-23 marks the 11th consecutive year that the Trine women's volleyball team has been awarded by the USMC/AVCA. Less than 30 teams in NCAA DIII have a longer streak going than the Thunder women do right now.
