CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The Trine University men's volleyball team received Defensive Player of the Week honors from the Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League (MCVL) for the fifth time in 2024, but for the first time, it was Kevin Boncaro who received the weekly award.
The junior opposite from Rochester, N.Y. is a one-time recipient of the league's Offensive Player of the Week award, but this is the first time he has been given a nod for his efforts defensively. Boncaro helped lead Trine to their fourth straight MCVL Tournament berth with wins over The University of Olivet (3-0) and Adrian College (3-1) over the weekend.
He accumulated 32 digs in two matches (4.57 digs per set), including a season-high 17 against the Bulldogs. He would add five block assists to his defensive efforts. Along with his work on defense, Boncaro also had a tremendous weekend on offense. He tallied 25 total kills with two aces as well.
On Friday, April 5, Trine takes on Wittenberg University to begin the final weekend of the regular season. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
