OSHKOSH, WIS. -- The Trine University men's cross country team competed in the Kollege Town Sports Invitational hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh in Oshkosh, Wis.
The event was comprised of six races (three men's and three women's) with both teams competing in the Pre-National and Open races. In the men's Pre-National race, the Thunder finished with 717 team points to finish 27th out of 50 schools.
Individually, sophomore Derek Miller (Shipshewana, Ind./Westview) recorded the top time for Trine in the 8k Pre-National race with a time of 26:28.4 and placed 94th of 344 runners. Sophomore Jack Beakas (Auburn, Ind./DeKalb) was second to cross the finish line for the Thunder with a time of 26:41.9 and was followed by the duo of fellow sophomores Alex Amaro (Fort Wayne, Ind./Concordia Lutheran) and Neil O'Brien (Whiteland, Ind./Roncalli) with marks of 27:05.1 and 27:05.7, respectively.
Junior Villis Vuskalns (Indianapolis, Ind./Beech Grove) was fifth on the team after completing the course with a time of 27:08.0. Senior Jonathan Phillips (Royal Center, Ind./Pioneer) had a time of 27:30.5 and sophomore Noah Acker (Kendallville, Ind./East Noble) followed in a time of 27:34.1.
In the 8k "Open" race, Trine had three individuals compete and were led by sophomore Harrison Korkos (Rochester, Ind./Rochester) with a mark of 27:31.9 and finished in 53rd place out of 417 total runners. Sophomore Levi Neuzerling (Nobelsville, Ind./Noblesville) posted the second quickest time for the Thunder at 27:52.7 and was followed by senior Kody Snyder (Burnettsville, Ind./Twin Lakes) who ran a time of 29:21.6.
Trine will next compete in the annual Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Championship hosted by Kalamazoo (Mich.) College on Saturday, Oct. 27. The men's race is scheduled to begin at noon.
