Men's Cross Country Earn Team and Individual Academic Honors

NEW ORLEANS, LA.  --  The Trine University men's cross country team has earned academic team and individual honors by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

As a team, the Thunder posted a cumulative 3.47 grade point average in the Fall 2018 semester to earn USTFCCCA All-Academic accolades.  

For a team to be considered for this honor, it must have competed and compiled a team score at an NCAA Regional meet and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.10 on a 4.0 scale. Overall, there were 393 teams honored by the USTFCCCA, of which 178 were men's teams.

In addition, four members of the men's cross country team earned individual recognition in seniors Jonathan Phillips (Royal Center, Ind./Pioneer), Nick Zak (St. John, Ind./Hanover Central), sophomores Noah Acker (Kendallville, Ind./East Noble) and Jack Beakas (Auburn, Ind./DeKalb).  

In order to qualify for this honor, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of 3.30 and finish in the top 25 percent of their respective regional championship meet.  There were 682 total student-athletes (men and women) who earned USTFCCCA All-Academic honors with 300 male athletes selected.
