Beakas and Neuzerling Compete in NCAA National Meet

LOUISVILLE, KY.  --  Two members of the Trine University men's cross country team competed in the 2019 NCAA Division III National Championship at the Tom Sawyer Park in Louisville, Ky.

Juniors Jack Beakas (Auburn, Ind./DeKalb) and Levi Neuzerling (Noblesville, Ind./Noblesville) both earned at-large selections to this year's national race after their efforts during the year, including top-25 finishes as last weekend's Great Lakes Regional Meet.

At this year's nationals, Beakas finished with a time of 25:46.8  in the event for the quickest mark among the Trine competitors.  His time ranked as the 146th fastest among 279 total competitors.

Neuzerling finished with a time of 26:34.2 which put him in 250th place.

"Jack and Levi had a great season and the national meet was just the ending to a great year," said Head Coach Zach Raber.  "They struggled a bit in the wet and slick conditions.  At that meet, it's tough to move up and even tougher when the conditions are bad. But, they've gained a tremendous amount of experience and it will only make them better competitors for the next two years."

The cross country season offically comes to a close with the completion of the NCAA national meet.
