Top Five Team Finish Highlights Yellowjacket XC Invitational for Trine Men

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Trine University men's cross country team was in action Saturday morning at the Yellowjacket XC Invitational at Genesee Valley Park in Rochester, New York. The Thunder secured a fifth-place team finish in the 8k race out of 25 teams in attendance.

New York University was able to sweep both the men's and women's races with a victory in the men's event as well.

The best finishing Trine student-athlete was Noah Acker with a 15th place finish and a time of 26:31.2. The senior was just a handful of seconds away from getting to the top-10. Freshman Ryan Hoopingarner was also in the top-25 with a 22nd place finish at 26:43.4.

Other scoring members for the team included Zachary Brickler in 28th with a time of 26:48.0, Eli Lantz in 43rd at 27:06.0 and Holden Martin in the 65th position at 27:27.9. Brickler was closest to his career best out of the group, completing the race 11 seconds longer than his fastest mark ever.

The Thunder compete closer to home on Saturday, October 1 for the NCAA Pre-National Championships in Lansing, Michigan. The race will be held at Forest Akers Golf Course, the same course as the 2022 NCAA Division III National Championships.
