Brickler Leads Thunder Men at Great Lakes Regional

HOLLAND, Mich. – At the Great Lakes Regional, the Trine University men's cross country team finished 11th as a team. Competing at Three Fires Golf Club, hosted by Hope College, the Thunder were just outside the top-10, with John Carroll University securing the win and automatic qualifier for the Great Lakes Region to the NCAA Championships next weekend.

The Trine men were the third-best team from the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) at the Great Lakes Regional, behind Hope College and Calvin University.

Zachary Brickler led Trine with a new personal best time of 25:24.6 in the 8K race. Brickler secured a 56th place finish overall.

Noah Acker and Jacob Myers finished nearly side-by-side in 66th and 68th. Acker completed the race in 25:29.7 and Myers had a time of 25:30.6. It was the best time of the senior Myers' career.

Ryan Hoopingarner and Joseph Packard were the final two scoring members for the Thunder. The freshman Hoopingarner placed 80th overall with a personal-best time of 25:38.9. Packard was 85th at 25:41.9.
