NEWVILLE, Pa. – At the 2023 NCAA Division III Men's Cross Country Championships, sophomore Ryan Hoopingarner represented the Trine University men's cross country team as an individual qualifier into the event. The meet was hosted by Dickinson College and took place at Big Spring High School. Pomona-Pitzer were the team champions, edging out the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse by one point in the final standings.
Hoopingarner placed 124th in the national event with an 8K time of 25:51.5. The sophomore started strong and completed the first mile in just under five minutes, but began to tapper off late in the race. He was as high as 77th in the event.
This concludes the 2023 season for the Trine University cross country teams, however for continued running coverage, the Trine University men's and women's track and field season kicks off on Saturday, December 2 at the Tiger Opener hosted by Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio.
