ROYAL OAK, MICH.-- The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association has named Trine duo Kendra Marshall and Bree Fuller the league's Players of the Week, the conference announced Monday.
Marshall (Leesburg, Ind./Warsaw) was named Player of the Week, while Fuller (Hubbardston, Mich./Fulton) earned Pitcher of the Week honors for the third-consecutive week. The duo led Trine to a 6-0 week in MIAA play to lead the Thunder in clinching their third-straight MIAA regular-season title. The perfect week extended Trine's school-record winning-streak to 29 games. The team tied Alma's record for most consecutive conference victories at 44 games. The Thunder are ranked fifth in the nation with a 30-1 overall record, 12-0 in the MIAA. They will host the MIAA Tournament May 1-2.
Marshall had two hits or more in every game last week on her way to batting .636 (14-of-22) and driving in 13 runs. She went 6-for-8 with two doubles and six RBI's in a sweep over Hope. She followed that with a 4-for-8, four RBI effort in helping the Thunder take two games at Albion. Marshall concluded the week with four hits and three RBI's to help Trine clinch the MIAA-title with a sweep at Calvin. She is being honored as Player of the Week for the first time in her Trine career.
