Schnarr Named to All-Tournament Team

TYLER, TEXAS-- Trine's Jamie Schnarr was named to the 2014 NCAA Division III Softball National Championship All-Tournament team, which was announced following the conclusion of the championship game.

Schnarr (Kettering, Ohio/Kettering) went 2-for-4 with a double and a sacrifice bunt in Trine's two games in the National Championships. The senior first baseman went 1-for-2 with a double and a sacrifice in the opening game loss to Montclair State, and followed that with a 1-for-2 performance against East Texas Baptist. The All-Tournament team was voted on by members of the media and championship committee. Schnarr's honor highlighted the first-ever National Championship appearance for Trine. The Thunder concluded the season with a 43-6 record, having won the school's first Regional and Super-Regional Championships, their third-consecutive MIAA regular-season title and their second-consecutive MIAA Tournament title.

The All-Tournament honors cap off a solid senior campaign for Schnarr. The first baseman missed the last two seasons due to injury, and came back to become a fixture in the Thunder lineup this season. Schnarr batted .302 on the season with three home runs, 23 RBI's and a .542 slugging percentage. A big two-hit, three-RBI performance by Schnarr helped key a 10-inning victory over Emory in the Atlanta Super-Regional.

Tufts won the National Championship this afternoon, defeating Salisbury 6-0 in the title game. Jo Clair and Allyson Fournier were named Co-Most Outstanding Players of the Championship round.
