Searles Named MIAA Player of the Week

FREELAND, Mich.-- Trine's Carly Searles has been named MIAA Position Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday.

Searles (Levering, Mich./Petoskey) batted .647 (11-of-17) in leading the Thunder to a 5-0 week. The senior was a dynamic threat setting the table atop the Trine lineup, slugging 1.235, scoring 10 runs, homering and tripling twice, driving in three runs and stealing five bases. Included among Searles' performances was a 6-of-7 performance in a doubleheader of sweep of John Carroll, which included a triple and a walk-off homer in the bottom of the sixth. The eighth-ranked Thunder have won 11-straight to improve to 16-1 on the season.

Searles is closing in on the all-time NCAA mark for career triples for all divisions after breaking the Division-III record earlier this season. The senior has 46 triples in her career, five shy of tying the NCAA-mark. The two-time All-American continues to re-write the Trine offensive record books, as she is the school's all-time leader in runs, hits, total bases and steals.

Trine returns to action tomorrow at 2 p.m. as the Thunder host Ohio Northern at SportONE/Parkview Softball Field.
