Softball Field Dedication Cancelled; Games Still On

ANGOLA, Ind.-- The dedication of SportONE/Parkview Softball Field, scheduled for this afternoon, has been cancelled due to weather.

The dedication of the brand-new facility will be rescheduled for a later date. The doubleheader between Trine and Calvin will be played as previously scheduled. The eighth-ranked Thunder are set to square off with the Knights in a key MIAA doubleheader at 3:30 p.m. Trine carries a 21-2 overall record and 5-1 conference mark into this afternoon's action. Calvin is 7-13 overall, 2-4 in MIAA action.

Trine trustee Jerry Allen and his wife, Jorja, Trine Alumni were lead donors for SportONE/Parkview Softball Field. Thanks to a partnership with the Parkview Foundation and SportONE, the stadium features a new field, dugouts and batting cages along with expanded seating.

The new field is named to recognize donors Parkview Ortho Hospital and Drs. Brett F. Glemlick and John C. Pritchard. Gemlick is an orthopedic surgeon and Pritchard is a sports medicine specialist- both are with SportONE, a division of Orthopaedics NorthEast of Fort Wayne

A commitment from Harold Chevrolet of Angola memorializes the late Ben Davis, former co-owner of the Chevrolet dealership, with a new brick press box complete with concessions and restrooms.

In addition to stadium seating, the new diamond also boasts a brick wall between the dugouts and home plate and new fencing behind home plate. Additional field drainage was also part of the project.
