Robles Earns Pitcher of the Week Honors

FREELAND, Mich.-- Trine's Justine Robles has been named the MIAA Softball Pitcher of the Week, the conference announced Monday.

Robles (Long Beach, Calif./Lakewood) went 3-0 in helping the Thunder to a perfect 4-0 record last week. The junior picked up wins in both ends of a doubleheader sweep of conference-foe Calvin, including four shutout innings in a 29-0 victory in game one. She followed that performance by holding one of the nation's top offenses in check in an 8-4 victory over Case Western Reserve Saturday afternoon. Robles is being honored as Pitcher of the Week for the first time in her career.

Robles been a workhorse in the circle for Trine this season. The junior leads the MIAA with 13 wins and ranks second in the conference in innings pitched, complete games and strikeouts. Robles has fired five shutouts this season, tied for most in the conference and the second-most in a single-season in team history. Robles has struck out 105 batters this season and sports a strikeout-to-walk ratio of nearly 5-to-1.

Trine will travel to Olivet for an MIAA-doubleheader this Thursday, April 17. First pitch is slated for 3:30 p.m. The Thunder carry a 25-2 record into the week. The team was ranked ninth in the nation in the most-recent NFCA Division III Top 25 Poll.
