Thunder Ranked Third in Central Region

INDIANAPOLIS-- The Trine softball team is ranked third in the Central Region in the first official NCAA Division III Softball Regional Rankings released Thursday.

The rankings reflect the results of games played through the beginning of the week. The Thunder entered the week with an overall record of 20-9. Trine is one of eight teams ranked in the region. The Thunder own a 6-6 record against teams appearing in any of the regional rankings, including a 2-2 mark against teams ranked in the Central Region. Trine is seeking a ninth-consecutive bid to the NCAA Regionals.

The Thunder have four games remaining against opponents ranked the Central Region. Trine travels to top-ranked Alma Wednesday, Apr. 27 and hits the road to face sixth-ranked Saint Mary's Saturday, Apr. 30. 

Trine's Rachell Noble (Indianapolis, Ind. / Decatur Central) entered the week ranked 13th in the nation in on-base percentage. The sophomore is currently getting on base at a .564 clip. She is batting .443 with a .646 slugging percentage, two home runs and 16 RBIs.

MIAA play continues this Saturday as the Thunder travel to Albion. First pitch of the doubleheader is scheduled for 1 p.m. Trine enters the weekend tied for first place in the conference with Alma. The Thunder have won the last four MIAA regular-season titles.
