Robles named MIAA Pitcher of the Week

FREELAND, Mich.-- Trine's Justine Robles has been named the MIAA Softball Pitcher of the Week, the conference announced Monday.

Robles (Long Beach, Calif. / Lakewood) did not surrender a run in 13 innings of work last week on her way to notching two wins and a save. The senior retired the first 12 batters in order in a two-hit, five-inning shutout of Olivet. She earned a two-inning save in game two of the doubleheader against the Comets. Robles closed out the week with six innings of shutout, two-hit work to beat Albion. She struck out 13 batters, while allowing seven hits and walking two on the week. Robles is being honored as the Pitcher of the Week for the first time this season and the fourth time in her career.

With her save in game two against Olivet on Tuesday, Robles moved into a tie for first in team history with seven saves in her career. Three of those saves have come this season. Robles' two shutouts this week gave her 15 in her career, tied for second-most in program history with former teammate Bree Fuller (2012-15).

Robles is closing in on two more career milestones. The senior is three wins from becoming the fifth player in team history with 50 career wins and needs 10 strikeouts to become the fourth pitcher in program history to strike out 400 batters in her career.

This season, Robles ranks second in the MIAA with a 1.37 ERA and owns a 12-5 overall record. She has struck out 113 batters at a rate of 7.37 per seven innings, a mark which ranks second in the conference. Robles has allowed just 76 hits in 107.2 innings of work.

Trine wraps up the regular-season with a pair of key MIAA doubleheaders this week. The Thunder travel to Alma for a doubleheader that is likely to decide the MIAA regular-season champion on Wednesday, Apr. 27. Trine also travels to face regionally-ranked foe Saint Mary's Saturday, Apr. 30.
