Marshall Earns NFCA All-America Honors

LOUISVILLE, Ky.-- Trine's Kendra Marshall has been named a National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division III Softball All-American, the organization announced Wednesday evening.

Marshall (Leesburg, Ind. / Warsaw) earned Second-Team All-American honors as a third baseman to cap off an outstanding senior season. The All-America honor is the first of her career. The honor adds to a list of career accolades that include two appearances on the NFCA All-Great Lakes Region team and three All-Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association honors, including a First Team campaign this spring. The Thunder softball program has now produced an All-American in four straight seasons.

Offensively, Marshall set career-bests with six home runs, 39 RBis and a .548 slugging percentage this season. She led the MIAA in RBIs in conference play with 19. Marshall batted .355 with a team-best 10 doubles and totaled a 13-game hitting streak this season. Her glove work produced a robust .947 fielding percentage while manning third base for the Thunder.

Marshall concluded her career as one of the most prolific run producers in school history, driving in 115 runs in her career to rank seventh all-time. Marshall's 32 career doubles are tied for the sixth-most in program history, while her 167 career hits rank 10th all-time. Her 246 total bases are the ninth-most in program history. She owned a career .360 batting average.

Led in part by Marshall, Trine won its second NCAA Regional title and advanced to the Super Regional round. Marshall was a key contributor on both Thunder teams that won Regional titles and was a member of the first NCAA Division III Softball National Championship appearance in team history.

Among Marshall's numerous clutch hits in her career was a walk-off RBI single to defeat Emory in game one of the 2014 Atlanta Super Regional, which Trine would go on to win to advance to the National Championships. Marshall later hit the team's first-ever home run in the championship round. In 18 career NCAA postseason games, she totaled two homers and drove in nine runs.

Trine concluded the season with a 33-14 overall record. The Thunder won its second Regional title, appeared in the NCAA Regional round for the ninth-straight year and clinched a share of its fifth-straight MIAA regular-season championship. Trine produced three NFCA All-Region and six All-MIAA performers.
