Thunder Earn 10th Consecutive NCAA Regional Bid

ANGOLA, Ind. -- The Trine softball team will travel to Wisconsin-Whitewater for the NCAA Division III Regionals, which begin Thursday.

The Thunder will face Greenville in the first round of action Thursday at Van Steenderen Complex in Whitewater, Wis. Trine earned an at-large bid for the second year in a row after finishing the season 32-8 overall. The team will be making its 10th consecutive NCAA Regional appearance. The Thunder won its second Regional title last season.

Greenville won the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament championship to receive the conference's automatic-qualifying bid. The Panthers finished the regular season 24-15 overall. Greenville and Trine met in last year's Angola Regional, which the Thunder won 5-3.

The other half of the regional bracket is made up of host Wisconsin-Whitewater and Hope. The Warhawks won the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference regular season and tournament titles with a 36-7 overall record. Hope earned an at-large bid with an overall record of 25-13. The Thunder and Flying Dutch met three times, with Hope earning two wins in those meetings.
