Fox Named to NFCA National Player of the Year Watchlist

LOUISVILLE, KY. – Senior first baseman Kaylee Fox has been chosen as one of the fifty players on the 2018 Schutt Sports/NFCA Division III National Player of the Year watch list.

The list is compiled by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association's (NFCA) Division III All-American committee. It will be updated and adjusted throughout the season to assure the best players in the country are being considered. The eventual winner of the award will be chosen from the group of 10 remaining finalists.

Fox was one of five Trine softball players named to the NFCA All-Region team. She was the lone member to be named to the First Team. Fox finished the season with 16 home runs which was tied for second-most in the nation. Among Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) competition Fox finished first in home runs and runs batted in (48).

Entering this season her senior season, Fox currently has 45 home runs which is enough to already own the career record at Trine University.

The Thunder who finished last season ranked eighth by the NFCA, open their 2018 season by attending the NFCA Leadoff Classic, where they will faceoff with the top teams in the country. The classic takes place in Tucson, Ariz. and Trine will begin competition with a pair of games on March 2. At 10 a.m. MST they will take on Central College (Iowa) and then at 12:30 p.m. MST they finish off the day by facing off with Babson College. Both teams were ranked in the final NFCA rankings of 2017.
