Trine Ranked Fifth in Latest NFCA Poll

LOUISVILLE, KY. -- Following a 5-1 record during the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Leadoff Classic, the record moved up one spot to fifth in the most recent NFCA coaches poll.

The Thunder have started the season 7-1, starting their season during their spring break trip in Arizona. In the eight games, Trine has already scored 100 runs. They currently boast a .435 batting average, a .504 on-base percentage and a .690 slugging percentage.

Three members of the team currently boast multiple home runs so far this season. Sophomore Makenna Hartline (Niles, Mich. / Brandywine) has three while freshman Kennedy Baugh (Walton, Ky. / Notre Dame Academy) and senior Kaylee Fox (Vermilion, Ohio / Edison) both have two. Fox also leads the team with six doubles. Senior Erica Robles (Long Beach, Calif. / Lakewood) leads the team with 17 hits and a staggering .630 batting average in 27 at-bats. 

Sophomore Danielle Ray (Hamilton, Ohio / Badin) leads the team on the mound with three wins and has accumulated a 3.33 ERA after 21 innings pitched. Junior Kate Saupe (Farwell, Mich. / Farwell) currently leads the team with a 2.03 ERA following 10.1 innings pitched and two wins. Sophomore Hannah Kampmann (St. Paul, Minn. / Cretin Derham Hall) has put in quality innings and also has two wins so far this season.

The Thunder will remain in Arizona for the remainder for the remainder of the week. Today, March 7, they take on Hiram College and the College of Saint Benedict.
