Fox Tabbed MIAA Athlete of the Week

ANGOLA, IND. -- Senior Trine University softball player Kaylee Fox (Vermilion, Ohio / Edison) has been named this week's Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Co-Position Athlete of the Week.

Fox led the way for the Thunder offensively as they went 3-1 to start MIAA conference play. She finished the week with a .600 batting average, a .750 on-base percentage and a 2.100 slugging percentage.

In Trine's opening doubleheader against Alma College by going two-for-six with a home run and two RBIs.

Fox then caught fire in the Thunder's doubleheader against Olivet College. She went four-for-four in the pair of contests, with four home runs and nine RBIs. In game one, Fox notched three home runs including a walk-off effort to end the game early in the fifth inning. In game two, after tallying a lead-off home run in her first at-bat, the Comets had seen enough choosing to walk her the rest of the day. Fox ended the game with a school record three intentional walks, including one which came with bases loaded in the top of the sixth.

Following this weeks performance, Fox becomes the school career RBI leader with 192. Her 57 career home runs is the highest in Trine's NCAA history and fifth all-time in Division III.

Trine is scheduled to continue their season tomorrow, April 3 with a doubleheader against Kalamazoo College. Game one is scheduled to start at 3:30 p.m.
