Softball Suffers Setback at Adrian

ADRIAN, MICH. -- The Trine University softball team was swept by host Adrian College today.

In game one, the Thunder got out to an early lead when senior Kaylee Fox (Vermilion, Ohio / Edison) brought in a run with a sharp single to the shortstop. Fox would finish the game with a double and the lone RBI of the contest for Trine.

The rest of the game was all about the Bulldogs as they recorded nine runs in the first two innings and shut out the Thunder for the rest of the contest to come away with a 9-1 run-rule victory.

Game two saw Adrian grab the first lead of the contest, going up 1-0 in the third. Fox once again responded for the Thunder picking up her 14th homer of the season on a solo shot in the bottom of the fourth to tie the game at one. Adrian took back the lead with a two-run homer of their own in the top of the fifth and shut out the Thunder again to take the game 3-1.

Following the loss, Trine falls to 24-10 overall and 7-7 in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA). They will finish off the regular season by facing off with Calvin College in a home doubleheader on Saturday, April 28. With the games scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
