ANGOLA, IND – Two members of the Trine University softball team have been named to All-MIAA teams the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) office announced today.
Senior first baseman Kaylee Fox (Vermilion, Ohio / Edison) was voted to the first-team while fellow senior Erica Robles (Long Beach, Calif. / Lakewood) garnered second-team honors.
This is the first time that Robles has received an All-MIAA selection. Robles spent the entire season for the Thunder in the lead-off spot and became a fixture on the base path. She finished the season with the most hits (67), second highest batting average (.500) and third highest on-base percentage (.514) in the MIAA. Once on base, she was a nightmare for the opposition leading the conference in stolen bases with 18.
Robles started the season with a 30 consecutive game hit streak that dated back to last season, a new Trine softball record. Her batting average, on-base percentage, and stolen base percentage (.947) rank among the top-five best season totals in Trine history. She also ends her career with the second-best career batting average (.407) and third-best stolen base percentage (.953) on school record.
This is the fourth straight season that Fox has received the first-team honors. Fox was the power in the middle of the lineup for the Thunder throughout the season. She led the conference in runs batted in (58), home runs (15) and slugging percentage (.974) while posting a top five on-base percentage (.540) and batting average (.461).
Fox leaves the Thunder as one of the best power hitters in school history. She owns career records in home runs (60), runs batted in (201) and intentional walks (8). She also comes in at second in total bases (433), slugging percentage (.782) and walks (79). She also holds multiple single-game records for Trine.
The Thunder ended the regular season tied for fifth in the MIAA, missing out on the conference tournament by one win, with an overall record of 25-11 and a conference record of 8-8.
