Three Thunder Earn NFCA All-Region Honors

LOUISVILLE, KY. – Three members of the Trine University softball team have been named to the 2018 NCAA Division III All-Region team for the central region, the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) announced today.

Sophomore Makenna Hartline (Niles, Mich. / Brandywine) got the nod as an at-large selection on the second team, while seniors Kaylee Fox (Vermilion, Ohio / Edison) as a first baseman and Erica Robles (Long Beach, Calif. / Lakewood) in outfield both received first team honors.

This is the third selection to the All-Region team of Fox's career. Fox finished the season with 17 home runs, 63 RBIs and a .984 slugging percentage leading the team and the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) in all three categories. She is currently third in the country in RBIs and home runs. Earlier this season she broke the Trine career record for RBIs and ends her collegiate career with 206. Fox also received first team All-MIAA honors this season.

This is the first time that Robles has received All-Region honors. She finished the season with a team and MIAA high .486 batting average. She began this season with a 30 consecutive game hit streak, dating back to last season, the longest in school history. Robles was named All-MIAA second team earlier this year.

Hartline repeats as a member of the All-Region team after having achieved the honor in her rookie year as well. Hartline was second on the team with 11 home runs and a .723 slugging percentage. She finishes third in the MIAA in home runs.

The Thunder finished their season this past weekend, after making an 11th straight trip to the NCAA Division III Softball Championship tournament. The Thunder finished with a 26-13 overall record.
