Fox Picked in ASBA Draft

ANGOLA, Ind. – Trine University softball graduate Kaylee Fox (Vermilion, Ohio / Edison) was selected with the 38th pick in the 2018 American Softball Association (ASBA) Summer League draft, yesterday.

Fox was selected to play for the E1 Pro Ballers as a part of the inaugural season of the ABSA's professional softball league. The league and all four first-year teams will be based out of Mobile, Ala. The league's season will run from June 15 through July 31.

"I think this is a great honor for her, her family and all of the coaches who have helped her along the way," said Trine Head Coach Don Danklefsen, "She is a special player and I have always known that she has the talent to have played at the Division I level. This is a perfect opportunity for her to show the world what I have always known."

Fox finished off her career at Trine with her most decorated season as a member of the team. She was named first-team All-MIAA, NFCA All-Region and NFCA All-American. She was also one of ten finalists for the Schutt Sports/NFCA Division III National Player of the Year.

Fox racked up 17 home runs, 63 RBIs and a .984 slugging percentage during her senior campaign leading the team and the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) in all three categories. She finished the season third in the country averaging just under a home run every two games. She also finished top-ten in the country in the categories of home runs, RBIs and slugging percentage.

Fox leaves Trine as one of the best offensive players in program history. She owns Trine career records for most home runs with 62, most runs batted in with 206, highest slugging percentage with .786 and most intentional walks with 8.

"I think it could take some time for her to adapt to higher speeds and greater ball movement but she has always hit best when facing the better pitchers and she definitely has the bat speed to compete," Coach Danklefsen continued, "She is a hitting fanatic and will work until she feels comfortable at any level. She definitely will make Trine University softball supporters proud. Fox is one of the players that I will miss working with a lot and I can't wait to watch her games."
