Thunder Debut in NFCA Top 25 Poll

LOUISVILLE, KY. – The Trine University softball team debuted in a tie for 17th on this week's edition of the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division III Top 25 poll released today.

The Thunder received 57 points in the poll this week. It is the first time this season that the team has been ranked by the NFCA. At the top of the poll, Christopher Newport University supplanted Virginia Wesleyan who had seen themselves ranked No. 1 for the past 25 weeks.

Yesterday Trine picked up two more wins as they swept Anderson University in their home-opening doubleheader. On Sunday, they defeated Ohio Northern University twice as they returned to play after a two-week break. The team currently owns a 12-2 overall record.

Through Sunday, the Thunder led the country averaging 1.58 home runs per game and sit in fourth with a .645 team slugging percentage.

Trine will open MIAA competition when they host Saint Mary's on Saturday, March 30 for a doubleheader. The games are scheduled to start at 1 p.m.
