Makenna Hartline Takes MIAA Weekly Honor

ANGOLA, Ind. – Junior Makenna Hartline (Niles, Mich. / Brandywine) had a stunning week at the plate and was rewarded with Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Position Player of the Week honors, the conference announced today.

It is the first time in her career that Hartline has received position player of the week honors and the second time this season that a member of Trine softball has received the award.

Hartline finished the week with an impressive 2.000 slugging percentage as well as a .812 on-base percentage and a .571 batting average. She finished the week with four hits including three home runs and a double. She also racked up an impressive nine walks during the week.

She shone the brightest in the team's doubleheader against Alma on Saturday. In those two games, she went two for four with two home runs, four walks and no strikeouts. Her home run in the second game went over the top of the scoreboard in left-center field and brought in three runs to help the Thunder pull away for the 8-0 victory.

The Thunder currently sit in a tie for first in the MIAA with a record of 8-2. They will continue MIAA play on Wednesday, April 17 when they take on Albion College at 3 p.m.
