Trine Named MIAA Position Player of the Week

FREELAND, Mich. – Trine University junior Ellie Trine (Kokomo, Ind. / Kokomo) has been selected this week's Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Softball Position Player of the Week the conference announced today, Monday, April 25.

This is the fourth time this season that a Thunder softball student-athlete has been awarded an Athlete of the Week honor by the MIAA. It is the first time in Trine's career that she has received the award.

Trine was a huge part of the team's success during a crucial week in which they would finish 5-1 in MIAA play, staying in the hunt for the regular season title. She finished the week with a .684 batting average, a .739 on-base percentage and a .842 slugging percentage.

The first doubleheader of the week saw the team split with visiting Kalamazoo College. Trine would go 6-for-7 in the batter's box while recording a pair of doubles and a walk. She would score four of the team's 16 runs on the day.

Later in the week the team would clobber visiting Olivet College. Trine would go 4-for-6 on the day with a double and a walk and four runs scored. Then against Adrian College this past weekend she would go 3-for-6 with two walks. She would score five of the team's 14 runs on the day.
