Softball Ranked Second in Final NFCA Poll

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Trine University softball team ends the season ranked second in the country according to the final edition of the 2022 National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division III Top 25 Coaches Poll.

The Thunder jumped 18 spots from the last edition of the poll which came out before the start of the 2022 NCAA Division III Softball Championship tournament. The second-place finish matches the program's previous highest ranking in the poll.

The lone team coming in ahead of Trine is national champion Christopher Newport University. The Thunder lost in the final series to the Captains, finishing the season second in the nation, the best finish in program history.

Trine finished the season winning 20 of their 22 final games to post a 35-13 overall record. It is the 12th time the program has surpassed the 30-win mark since joining the NCAA in 2005. In addition to their first appearance in the final series and first national runner-up finish, the season marks their fourth super-regional championship, fifth regional championship and 11th MIAA Championship.
