MIAA Selects Trine as Position Player of the Week

HUDSONVILLE, Mich. – Karley Trine of the Trine University softball team has been named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Position Player of the Week, the association announced on Monday.

It is the fifth time this season that a member of the team has earned athlete of the week honors. It is the first time in her career that the sophomore has earned the award.

The Kokomo, Indiana native was a monster in the batters' box during the team's four games this past week. She finished with a .615 batting average during the stretch while also posting a .571 on-base percentage and a 1.154 slugging percentage. Trine finished with five RBIs and four runs while recording eight hits including two doubles, a triple and a homerun.

The Thunder won their four games this week all in MIAA play. They had a combined score of 45-4 with the offense leading the way. They will take the field again on Thursday, April 25 when they travel to face The University of Olivet for another MIAA doubleheader. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m.
