ANGOLA, IND.-- Trine wrapped up their non-conference slate with a 93-36 victory over Illinois Tech Wednesday night in Hershey Hall.
All 15 Thunder to suit up saw action, with 13 players getting in the scoring column. Four Trine players reached double-figures, led by Whitney Shaffer's (Tipton, Ind./Tri-Central) 15 points. Shaffer knocked down 5-of-6 three-point attempts, tying her career high for made threes in a game. Kyleigh Hampton (Wabash, Ind./Wabash) added a career-high 11 points on 4-of-6 shooting. Three Thunder set or tied career-highs, and two more set season-highs. Trine improved to 9-4 overall. Illinois Tech falls to 0-14.
Laura Rosekrans (Williamston, Mich./Williamston) and Kayla Dunn (Columbia City, Ind./Columbia City) each added 10 points for the Thunder. The scoring effort was a season-high for Rosekrans. Kelsey Henselmeier (Martinsville, Ind./Martinsville) tied a career-high with eight assists in just 16 minutes of action.
Doriana Fiore (Winter Garden, Fla./Ocoee) scored a career-high seven points, and added five rebounds and three assists. Taylor Cole (Mt Pleasant, Mich./Shepherd) notched a season-high eight points, while Katelyn Sager (Kell, Ill./Salem Community) added a season-high six points.
Trine shot 52 percent from the field (35-of-68) and knocked down a season-high 12 threes in 20 attempts (60 percent). The Thunder bench produced 56 points.
Hailey Borowczyk led Illinois Tech with a career-high 16 points on 7-of-15 shooting. She added six rebounds. Jessica Henriques added 10 points and six boards. The Scarlet Hawks shot 25 percent from the field (16-of-65).
The Thunder never trailed in the contest. Trine outscored Illinois Tech 33-4 over the first 12:56 of play.
Trine returns to MIAA-action this Saturday, Jan. 10 when they host Olivet at 3 p.m. in Hershey Hall.
